Une Couche or des couches (plural) which is pronounced coosh.

you would say "je voudrais une couche pour bébé"
(i would like a diaper for baby)
couche would be pronounced "cooch"

Why would you have to ask? Just walk into the supermarket and pick up a pack of Pampers as normal.

You can also ask for a "pampers"; it's a very popular brand in French-speaking countries.
