me and a couple friends are planning a trip with a tour group for next summer, and we will be spending a few days in paris. one of the things we would like to do while in europe is go to a topless beach, but we can't go too far out of paris, since the day we plan on going, we need to take a night train to get to italy and can't miss it.

i tried using google but it kind of confused me, since even google maps couldn't find the actual beaches, so it is a little difficult to plan.

so do you know of any clothing optional beaches near paris?

I read someplace where the Parisian government has changed the ordninances to require bikini tops in the Paris City Limits. Outside of Paris it's still acceptable. There are numerous parks, lakes and streams all around Paris. Although word has it fewer French women are partaking of the practice due to concerns over Melanoma.

As TJ says, all beaches in France are topless but there are no beaches near Paris. And you absolutely CAN'T go topless in Paris. ANYWHERE.

Topless is something you can ONLY do on beach. The closest beaches are in Normandie like Deauville (about 2h by the road)

Sorry for my poor English.

Topless beaches... don't exist. You go topless or you don't, that's your choice. You are not allowed to go topless in the cities, this to stop people from walking topless from the beach on the sea front into shops and restaurants.

Nudist beaches are a totally different kettle of fishes and are private places for most of them. Here is a list of nudist places around Paris. They are mostly camping sites as the sea is 300 kms away from Paris.

Cabal gave you the right answer.

If you plan to take a train to Italy then you'd better go to the South of France which is on the way to Italy by train, Nice is about 5 hours by fast train from Paris, then you're closer to Milan.

French railways system http://www.sncf.com/

If you don't find there as many details as you need to plan your travel, then check on the Swiss railway system which is really useful and gives many more details, it doesn't matter if you're not travelling to Switzerland ! http://www.cff.ch/

You can go to Villefranche sur Mer, Beaulieu sur Mer, Cannes, Nice ... You'll have fantastic landscapes between Saint Raphael, Monaco and Italy.

I agree with "Tin". The only beaches are in the south of France on the Med. And like she says, you can take the fast train, a real experience, to get there in no time. We visited Nice a few years back but saw very limited nudity, even though it was permissible.

There is a nudist city called Cap d'Agde near the town of Agde. Google it.

Also, there are a few man made beaches along the Seine, the river that flows through Paris. I'm pretty sure you could go topless there.

Clothing optional is not the same as topless.

Clothing optional means completely nude.

All beaches in France are topless. Topless is very common in France.

There are no beaches near Paris. Maybe you can find a park along the river or swimming pool to sunbath at. Topless is acceptable anywhere in France.
