My friend is coming home from France later this week and I was wanting to make her a welcome home basket! I was trying to think of goodies and food that would remind her of France! A few ideas that I had so far are--A map of France/Paris, Nutella, a baguette, maybe some macaroons..
Any other ideas? Movies? Food? French goodies that are attainable in the US?

First do not get macaroons - Macaroons are not at all French. In France MACARONS are excellent
and extremely popular - You can find them in a few specialty stores in the USA, but they are nothing like macaroons. Nutella is made by an Italian company and although it is extremely popular in France, it is not French, If I want to remember Paris, I take out my DVD of the movie. Paris, Je t'aime. 2006 movie with many well known USA and French stars. Paris has 20 very distinct neighborhoods (arrondissements The picture is about stories in 18, Some very funny (Steve Buscemi() some really sad (Juliiette Binoche). Great way to "visit: much of Paris. It is available at Amazon.
This site took a bit of jiggling - but the French desserts in Birmingham are there = under Christmas 2009 or you can contact Malinda Kay for all kinds of French cakes.

I don't agree with Reinaldo, Nutella is very much a French staple though the taste is slightly different in the US (less hazelnut).
You could add a croissant.
If she was in Paris you can put a metro ticket (print one from the web)
